Our physiology is not determined by biology... it's determined by our lifestyle!
There is a wealth of information out there about how to keep your health. However, very often, the information provided is linked to the promotion of a product offered almost as a panacea. And, wouldn't it be nice if we could keep our health just by popping a couple of pills in the morning?
That, perhaps, won't happen! Supplements and vitamins are valuable when our bodies are depleted. But if what we want is to promote the intelligence of the body we need to be mindful and regain body wisdom. Body wisdom refers to the capacity, that we probably were born with and then lost because of "education," the capacity to listen to the body and understand its signals.
We live in a world that has made us "habit animals." We eat at 12 even if we're not really hungry. We go to bed at a certain time even if we're not really sleepy. When we experience pain, we pop a pill, without trying to find out what caused the symptom. This is like driving a car on automatic pilot... not safe!
Let's see how can we improve our capacity to read the signs and respond to the needs of the body. The more you know about your anatomy, your phisiology, the meaning of the symptoms, our energetic bodies; the more we know, the better chances we have at staying healthy and prevent illness. Just remember that the main causes of death in the United States: cardiovascular disease, cancer and diabetes are in most cases preventable... they are associated with lifestyle.
There is no one-right way to live. There is no recipe here. Our bodies are unique and we need to know them well.
